Race 1. (12:20) Midway BM72 (1600m)
#2 – Cheerful Legend @ $5.50
Cheerful Legend was too good for them at Rosehill last start and he’s good enough to win again.
The four-year-old son of Shalaa owns four wins and three placings from 19 starts, so he’s consistent, and he’s our top pick.
Punters get value each-way odds to enjoy.
Race 2. (12:55) UNSW Todman Stakes (1200m)
#2 – Red Resistance @ $1.85
Red Resistance is unbeaten after two starts and we think he could be the front runner for the Golden Slipper.
The two-year-old son of Russian Revolution has beaten some tough types in two starts to date, so his form checks out nicely.
His recent trial win came by 5.8 lengths, so expect him to hit the ground running at short odds.
Race 3. (13:30) Yarraman Park Riesling Stakes (1200m)
#1 – Learning to Fly @ $1.60
Punters must take short odds for Learning to Fly, but her win in the Inglis Millennium was a sight to behold.
She looked beaten down the straight but she picked up brilliantly to win and remain unbeaten from two starts.
We expect her unbeaten run to continue Saturday against the small field.
Race 4. (14:05) Tab Randwick City Stakes (2000m)
#3 – Sacramento @ $3.60
Sacramento is finding it tough to get back to winning form but he’s likely to lead and try run them into the ground.
The six-year-old is a professional seven-time winner from 31 starts and he won’t have trouble finding the front from barrier five.
He has been respected in betting markets and that’s a good sign.
Race 5. (14:40) Tokyo City Keiba Fireball Stakes (1100m)
#3 – Economics @ $2.40
Economics was a big drifter before being scratched last start, but that isn’t the case on Saturday.
The three-year-old colt has been well-backed after opening at $2.70 and he’s a quality three-year-old in the making.
James McDonald rides and that adds to his appeal.
Race 6. (15:20) Hyland Colours Challenge Stakes (1000m)
#8 – Giga Kick @ $2.30
Most of the money has come for Everest winner Giga Kick, who resumes from a spell.
The Clayton Douglas-trained son of Scissor Kick lost his unbeaten run at Flemington last start but he didn’t have all favours in the run.
His recent trial was solid and the betting move is encouraging.
Race 9. (17:20) Mostyncooper Aspirational Quality (1600m)
#2 – Roots @ $2.15
Roots was beaten at Rosehill last start but we’re happy to stick with the talented four-year-old mare.
She kept coming to the line and rising to the mile is right up her alley. She owns a win and two placings over the mile, which bodes well.
It’s another good ride for McDonald and punters get value odds.
Race 10. (17:55) Ranvet Wenona Girl Quality (1200m)
#1 – Promise of Success @ $9
Promise of Success didn’t show much consistency last preparation but she is dangerous at her best.
She owns two wins and two placings from six starts at Randwick, and she is a big race winner with plenty of experience.
Punters get value odds and they’re worth snapping up.
