I’m pretty keen here on 11 The Red Kite (Bet Now:

Formerly with Andrew Bobbin, his first run for Mark Currie came over 1400m here two weeks ago where he was short of an ideal trip, he just lacked change up speed but was good to the line in defeat behind Comrade Rosa, who had lengths on them and duly saluted in that fashion. Fitter and up to the mile, back in depth, he looks quite clearly the one to beat.

$SP.00) is seemingly loving life with Jack Bruce. She has won her past two, both at Doomben, winning over 1350m two back before stepping up to the mile and she was impressive late when clear, dashing right away for a dominant win. If she brings her Doomben form to Eagle Farm, surely she will go close to taking this out.

10 Karlstad (Bet Now:
$SP.00) has run well at Eagle Farm before, won here, and he is a dry track horse, so he gets conditions to run a much improved race. He ran behind Hokahey at Doomben last time, where he was never a threat after getting a suck run in transit. Think with a more positive ride, on top of the ground, he is certainly going well enough to take this out.

I want to give 1 Hard To Say (Bet Now:

He produced an electric turn of foot to win two back at the Sunny Coast before going to a Midway at Randwick a few weeks ago where he got back and held up before eventually getting clear air and finding the line okay without threatening behind Mabel. I reckon riding him cold is the way to go and with that in mind, a fast run 1000m should be fine. He can bounce back.

$SP.00) is a smart three year old for David Vandyke that is first up and is one of the hardest to beat. 3/3 to start his career in the early part of the Summer, winning at this track/distance before being given a break with an eye towards the Jewel. Trial win last Tuesday at Deagon was a good piece of work, he’ll land near the speed and prove hard to run down.

2 All That Pizzazz (Bet Now:
$SP.00) is a Tony Gollan trained gelding that resumes. He was heading down the Magic Millions Guineas path during the early part of the Brisbane Carnival but didn’t quite measure up and was spelled soon after. I thought he trialled really well alongside Midnight In Tokyo and to me, he seems very effective at the short course, so he appeals big time against these.

$SP.00) is the one to beat IMO. Kris Lees trained three year old that is looking to make it 4/4 this time in. He had the pattern in his corner at Canterbury last time but even allowing for that, he was still impressive the way he put them away and his late splits were some of the best of the meeting, so if this turns into a sit/sprint, I am confident he has the change up speed to win.

His last four runs have come at the mile, the latest being behind The Vowels, where he got back and was never really a winning threat but didn’t mind the way he found the line late in the piece, beaten just under six lengths. He does seem a one paced type that will keep batting on so 1800m is fine and is hard fit, racing well.

$SP.00) should be suited up in trip for Kerry Taplin. He would be sick of the sight of The Vowels, finishing behind him his past two, the latest being a fortnight back where he was near the speed throughout and tried his guts out but couldn’t quite finish it off and had no answers for the finale of The Vowels. Has run well at 2100m previously so 1800m here is fine and is the key threat.

Trialled up really well prior to debuting at Doomben several weeks ago where she got back in the run and somewhat crabbed around the turn but balanced up and was good late in the piece without threatening when second to all the way winner Party For Two. Staying at 1000m is the knock but she’ll be strong late and should appreciate the bigger track.

$SP.00) is one of the leading contenders for me here. Desleigh Forster trained filly that resumed at this track/distance last Wednesday when a strong winner. She was there to be beaten but found under pressure to fend them off and I actually thought she was strong to the line in winning. Better for the run under the belt, she appeals.

$SP.00) is an Impending filly for the O’Dea/Hoysted camp that is on debut. She trialled at Deagon last Tuesday and I thought moved pretty well in defeat when third to Felix The Scat, who was a sharp winner last Saturday at Doomben, so the form reads well, and you can’t ignore anything this stable is saddling up at the moment.

$SP.00) on top. Team Sears trained colt that is on debut after trialling at Doomben around a few weeks ago, leading throughout and I thought he moved very well, seemingly having plenty in hand. Rare for the stable to venture outside Toowoomba for a trial, so there is clear intent to win this race en route to the big race in two weeks time.

$SP.00) can give this a shake. He landed big bets when winning over 800m at Ipswich two back before going to 1110m three weeks ago at Doomben and closed off okay late when third to Rupert’s House. I think a fast run 1000m will be ideal for him and if he’s within range 400m out, he has the finale to be quite dangerous and hard to beat.

$SP.00) is a Trapeze Artist gelding for the O’Dea/Hoysted camp that is on debut. He trialled at Deagon last Tuesday and while he beat two home in a field of seven, he seemingly moved well enough to my eye, beaten just over two lengths. Stable is flying with their runners so I think watch the market and see what it does with him.

$SP.00) looks the straight bat option. This guy seems to be enjoying life under the care of the very much in form O’Dea/Hoysted camp. Did a super job fresh in the Sunshine Coast Cup when second to Chaillot before going to the mile here two weeks ago where he looked a moral on paper and despite a few nervous moments, class came to the fore and he was too good. Perhaps a touch flat second up off a super fresh run? Third up and getting to a suitable trip, he’ll take beating.

She ran in the Namazu race from a fortnight back here where she got off the speed and came off the bit early on but ran through the pain barrier and was good to the line, finishing a narrow second. Unknown at the trip but is racing like it will suit and with that run at Eagle Farm under the belt, she’ll be better off.

Fitter and back slightly in overall depth are two big ticks for 5 Barade (Bet Now:
$SP.00). Jack Bruce trained stayer that resumed over 1800m here a few weeks back where the race shape wasn’t really to his liking but he stayed on and was more than sound in defeat behind a handy horse, Mohican Heights. Might want one more, but he has a touch of class/quality and clearly has more upside than most.

This guy had a two run Spring, bolting up fresh at Doomben before racing here when a game third to a quality mare, Sweet Margot May. Trialled really well behind Baller and is a bomb when produced fresh. Stable is flying and this guy is very progressive. Hard to beat.

$SP.00) has done a super job since joining Adam Campton and has to rate as one of the hardest to beat. He ran a few weeks back at Doomben and produced an unbelievable finale from near last on the turn to round them up for a massive win, making it three wins on the bounce. Up to 1200m should be fine and he has the finale to give them a start and a beating.

I want to give 6 Subterranean (Bet Now:
$SP.00) another chance. I was keen on him at a price last time out at Doomben and he was crunched late in betting. He had a suck run nearer the inside and just didn’t really get a chance to build the revs so be forgiving of the effort behind Irish Songs. I am convinced he is flying this guy and if he can get a chance to build the revs, he’ll be finishing off strongly.

Back to Brisbane and back miles in grade/depth, keen on 2 Stampe (Bet Now: $10.00) running a much improved race. Very good third fresh at the Sunny Coast behind Simply Fly before going to the Southern Cross at Randwick where he found them a bit sharp, but was only beaten 2.5L by Quantico. If he runs up to that sort of effort here, he’ll take a power of beating.

6 The Big Goodbye (Bet Now: $2.90) will land on speed and prove hard to run down. Three weeks between runs since a dominant win at this trip at Doomben, where he led throughout and gave nothing else a look in to win impressively. He does tend to race better at Doomben than Eagle Farm but does handle the track, he has a good racing style and will look the winner for a long way.

4 Snowzone (Bet Now: $8.00) is a very honest animal that should be around the mark. Ran a beauty in the Magic Millions Sprint behind King Of Sparta before going to Doomben where he did work to get near the speed and that early burn just told late behind The Big Goodbye. With a more economical run in transit, he can run a much improved race.

He is several weeks between runs since resuming over 1300m here where he was back in a leader dominated affair and was never a winning factor, but was good late in the piece behind the in form Briars Kingdom. Good second up record, tempo should be more genuine and he will be strong at the end.

Track/distance winner from two weeks ago where Du Plessis was able to get complete control in front, walking them in front, turning it into a dash home and he was able to be too strong late for Rock Amore. Not sure he will get it as soft this time around but he’s a consistent animal that is genuine and rarely far away.

$SP.00) has been up a little while but is holding his form really well at the moment. Found 1500m a bridge too far two back before going back 100m a fortnight back and tried his guts out from on speed but couldn’t quite get there when a narrow second to Stuttering, beaten just under a length. Only has to run up to that effort to be around the mark.
