Villans could claim another big scalp
Villa manager Unai Emery took Arsenal to the Europa League final during his time at the Emirates, but he would like nothing more than denting his old club’s hopes of winning the Premier League for the first time since 2004.
And his team look to have a great chance of doing so. The Gunners were the last team to have got anything from a league trip to Villa Park – a 4-2 success in February – and they needed two injury-time goals to get that.
One Leon Bailey goal was enough to take the West Midlands side past treble winners Manchester City on Wednesday, but before then Villa had been full of goals, scoring 23 times in their previous six home matches.
Arsenal needed a late goal from Declan Rice to gain the points at Luton the night before – and it was a similar story when Kai Havertz netted the only goal with a minute to go in a win at Brentford.
The Gunners lost at Newcastle and drew with Chelsea before that on the road, so Villa look a big price to gain yet another home success.
Aston Villa vs Arsenal tip 1: Aston Villa to win @ 23/10 with Sky Bet
Watkins remains the main man
England striker Ollie Watkins did not score in Villa’s win over City but he did net in his previous three league appearances and looks primed to add to his eight top-flight goals.
Watkins has developed into one of the best strikers in the league, with 45 efforts on goal this term, 19 of which have been on target.
With statistics like that, he should be able to get opportunities. He was on target in February’s 4-2 defeat to the Gunners, so it would be no surprise if he did that again.

Offsides an excellent bet-builder addition
One of the characteristics of Villa’s rise to third spot is their ability to trap their opponents offside.
They are the best team in the Premier League in this regard and they caught Manchester City five times on Wednesday.
The Light Blues had been trapped on just 12 occasions all season before that and there is scope for Arsenal to be halted by the flag at least four times, as they are the fifth highest in the offside rankings, with a total of 34.
February’s meeting was a thriller that featured six goals and Villa are unlikely to sit back against anyone when playing at home.
While there was only one goal in their clash with City, their last nine league games at Villa Park have all featured at least three goals – and this game could return to type.
And finally, take a chance that Tuesday’s goal hero Rice will have at least two attempts on goal for the Gunners.
The England midfielder has scored three times since making the move across London from West Ham and had three attempts in each of his previous two games, against Wolves and Luton.
Aston Villa vs Arsenal tip 3: Bet builder: Arsenal 4+ offsides, over 2.5 goals, Declan Rice 2+ shots @ 15/2 with Sky Bet
