Boys football team win first match in new away kit

Harwell and Hendred Youth Football Club’s under eights Blacks team beat St Edmunds in the first round of the Gold Cup as they wore the kit which was bought with a £500 donation from housebuilder Vistry Thames Valley.

The club is based at Boundary Park on Greenwood Way and has 22 different teams, ranging from under eights to an adult ladies’ side.

Harwell’s under eights Blacks team, comprising 10 players, trains every Wednesday.

Manager Scott Drewett said: “We are incredibly grateful for the sponsorship. The boys are loving the new away strip.

“It’s really important for us to receive sponsorship to support the team’s sports budget, thereby allowing us to support our talented footballers, which may not have been possible without the boost from Vistry.”

Amber Bowley, regional sales director for Vistry Thames Valley, added: “Harwell and Hendred Youth Football Club plays an important role in the local community, offering valuable opportunities for children to learn and play football at every age and ability.

“We’re proud to support their fantastic work by sponsoring the under eights Blacks and delighted that the team won their first game in their new away kit.

“Let’s hope it’s the first of many.”

Vistry Thames Valley is currently building 76 new homes at the Didcot Grove development.
