Although ROSE LIGHT took time to get off the mark, she did seem to relish her first 1m3f run on Tapeta at Southwell recently, and this extra furlong seems likely to suit as well. The maiden Polar Princess looks sure to have a say again, but perhaps Churchella can be the main danger now she’s reunited with Danny Tudhope.

The trip is an obvious worry for the in-form horses, including the Saturday 1m winners PALLAS LORD and Possible Ambition. The former has been going great guns of late, and does at least have C&D form from early last year. Possible Ambition has more to prove at the trip, and the main danger can come from Bernie The Bear, though he too is not sure to be suited by this stiff 7f. Martin’s Brig stays 1m really well on this track, so he is another with a trip query.

Little depth to this maiden. My Cloud is a newcomer of significant interest, given his lofty purchase price and excellent pedigree, and the betting should provide clues. Welcome Dream sets the standard on his 2yo form and has to be seriously considered but QUIET RESOLVE has shaped well in two 6f runs, and this extra furlong should unlock more.

A trappy handicap. Market interest in Bora Bora would look significant after his long absence, while Enola Grey, Leap Day, Flylikeaneagle and Cusack all come into the reckoning. Global Spirit (second choice) can step forward from a good run after a break 11 days ago. But in behind him on that occasion was ALEXANDER JAMES, who didn’t get the chance to show what he could do, hemmed in behind runners from over 2f out. He’ll need more luck today, but he’s handicapped to go close.

This doesn’t look overloaded with pace, and that may count against some of the more interesting contenders, notably Illusionist, Grant Wood, Sir Maxi and Sibyl Charm. Kats Bob (second choice) should go well, but TYKE can prove he’s still on a good mark now faced with a stiffer track. The unexposed Master Dandy has been contesting uncompetitive novice events and isn’t obviously thrown in, but he’s from a good stable, and the betting can provide clues.

Better fairly hacked up at Wolverhampton on his nursery debut ten weeks ago, but he’s 11lb higher and facing a new trip this time. He is second choice, but BUZZ BOX (nap) makes plenty of appeal on the back of his game-dead-heat success on his stable debut here five weeks ago. He should have no problem dropping to 5f, and the horse with whom he dead-heated also scored next time and will move into handicaps with a BHA mark of 85. Of the remainder, The Liegeman is reliable, and Pinpoint’s run here in November can be upgraded.

Fantasy Navigator (second choice) swept through to win a similar race over C&D nine days ago, and he has the ability to contend despite a 5lb penalty. Cubanista wasn’t far behind him on that occasion and can go well again, but fourth-placed BLACKCURRENT might be able to turn the tables. He probably went off too quickly on that occasion and may be able to turn the tables under slightly less aggressive tactics. Noble Captain looks best of the rest.
