Man charged with attempted murder after man stabbed near mosque

Hassan Hussain, aged 24, of Nye Bevan Close, Oxford, was charged with one count of attempted murder, possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, and possession of a knife blade/sharp-pointed article in a public place today (Saturday March 16).

A man in his 40s was attacked with a knife in Manzil Way near to the Central Oxford Mosque shortly before 7pm on Wednesday evening (March 13).

The victim suffered serious injuries and remains in hospital in a stable condition.

He received first aid from a man attending a function at Central Oxford Mosque before an ambulance came to take him to hospital.

Hussain is due to appear at Oxford Magistrates Court this morning (March 16).
