Manager: The group are hungry to get back to winning ways

Oxford United’s quest to reach the Sky Bet League One play-offs continues on Friday night in the final regular home game of the season.

Currently sitting in the final play-off spot in sixth place, the U’s take on another play-off hopeful in Stevenage on Friday night live on Sky Sports, knowing a victory can go a long way in securing a top-six spot with only two games left in the season.

Recently, United have been in fine form winning three games on the spin with 13 goals scored and zero conceded before Tuesday night’s home loss to Lincoln.

For manager Des Buckingham, the midweek defeat is a minor blip in the road in what was still a positive performance.

He’s hoping the team can continue their good form and get another crucial three points against a tough opponent in Stevenage.

He said: “We’re looking forward to it. We’ve had a good couple of weeks in terms of performances and we’ve had some really good results over that period of time.

“Tuesday was a little bit of a setback for us, the performances I thought was good but the result didn’t follow.

“We have a very hungry group of players to get back out onto the pitch as soon as possible and Friday allows us to do that.

“Stevenage are in a good position and it will be another tough game. As I say every week we need to continue to build on what we’ve done the last couple of weeks in terms of performance.”
