More than 100 horse set for race event after postponment

The Bicester with Whaddon Chase point-to-point, postponed by a fortnight from its original date, received a total of 103 horse entries for the races that are scheduled to start at 2pm on April 28.

Clerk of the course, Graham Tawell, reported that the going is “Good, Good to Soft in places”.

The highlight of the card is the Equine Bio Genie Edgcote Gold Cup Mixed Open Race, held over an extended three miles five furlongs with a prize pot of £1,000, with £500 to the winner.

Eleven horses have been entered, including Shantou Flyer, sixth in the Cheltenham Foxhunters, as well as Go Go Geronimo and Encounter A Giant.

Kelly Morgan, discussing plans for Go Go Geronico, said: “It depends on the ground. He likes proper good going.

“Although it doesn’t have to be rattling, I’d rather not run him on soft.

Sixteen entries have been received for the Barwood Novice Riders Race, five of whom have already visited the winners enclosure this year,

Rider Hugh Lillingston, said about All Loved Up, who will be running in the race: “We felt that her run at Lockinge was a step forward from her win at Larkhill.

Meanwhile, the TJ Sunderland Restricted Race has 19 entries, the joint-highest of the day, and looks like another race which will be hard to call.
