New contemporary art fair in Oxford coming to close after three days

DEPOT, a new exhibition-come-art fair, opened on Thursday, September 26, in Park End Street and is running until today.

The event, which will be held annually, is a collaboration between artist-led commercial galleries, individual artists, specialist art fair platform ARTSVP, and Oxford-based arts charity Fusion Arts.

It aims to give collectors and art lovers access to world-class contemporary art outside London.

Max Mallows, from ARTSVP, and one of DEPOT’s founding members, said: “It’s time to try something a little different.

“With DEPOT we aim to provide a blueprint on how to foster collaboration and partnerships to bring exciting art events to a wider audience.”

The 2024 edition features around 10 national galleries selected by invitation.

Fusion Arts will present a series of solo exhibitions by international artists including Jermaine Francis, Valerie Amani and Sunil Shah.

Future editions will grow in size with founding members and existing participants selecting new galleries to join.

Exhibitors at this year’s event include Brooke Benington and Soho Revue from London, Benjamin Parsons and Hannah Payne Art from Oxford, Informality from Henley, and Aleph Contemporary from Stroud.

Also featuring will be RAW from London, Tin Man Art from Hampshire, and School Gallery from Folkestone.
