Oxford ambulance crash: Cyclist in critical condition

A cyclist has been critically injured in a collision with an ambulance.

The South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) crew was responding to an emergency on blue lights when their vehicle was involved in the collision on Woodstock Road in Oxford, near the junction with Blandford Road, at about 11:00 BST on Sunday.

The cyclist, a man in his 60s, sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital where he remains.

Thames Valley Police is appealing for anyone with information or dashcam footage to get in touch.

In a statement SCAS confirmed that the cyclist “was immediately treated at the scene by ambulance crews, the Thames Valley Air Ambulance team and a response car before being taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital for further assessment and treatment”.

“We’re working closely with Thames Valley Police in their investigation and we are not in a position to confirm anything further at this stage,” the statement added.
