Oxford is more popular than Ibiza, Naples and Budapest this week

More people have been searching Oxford on Google than the trio of holiday destinations according to Google Trends data.

It is worth noting that this is purely the term Oxford so that could refer to the University, the football team or even the shoe.

Yet either way, the data for the past seven days shows a major interest in the word all the same for all across the globe.

In countries including Vietnam, India and South Africa, Oxford was a far more popular search term than some of the key summer holiday destinations.

Out of all in those Vietnam who searched for any of the four destinations, Oxford made up 85 per cent of the searches.

This kind of dominance was also shown in last week’s search history recordings for Brazil, Mexico and the United Kingdom.

Overall, oxford averages 68 searches an hour worldwide over the past seven days in comparison to 47 for Budapest, 34 for Ibiza and 29 for Naples.

If the trends are to be followed, perhaps Oxford’s residents will not have to board a plane in order to get their riverboat tours, club nights and pizza.

All statistics and figures used in this article are correct as of 11am on Saturday, March 9.
