Oxfordshire theatre group raise £11,000 for local charity

Launton Village Players’ 37th pantomime, Rapunzel, raised the impressive total for charity Bicester Autism.

This money will contribute towards providing much needed support and opportunities to the families and carers of autistic children, those with ADHD or those awaiting a diagnosis of autism or ADHD. 

Their next production is the summer family variety show “It’s Showtime!”.

Performances will take place at 1.30pm and 6pm on Saturday, July 20th, and 2.30pm on Sunday 21st July.

The group also attended the Oxfordshire Drama Network annual general meeting on April 19, in which they won the “Best Programme Design” award.

Thy also won the “Best Production” award.

The judges said the pantomime ticked all of the boxes, and praised the costumes, the set, the music, the “welcoming” front of house, and the “wonderful” special effects.

They also congratulated the group on raising a “fantastic” sum of money for charity, and commented on how the standard and quality of Launton Village Players pantomimes has just been getting better and better over the last few years.

As well as the wonderful awards from the Oxfordshire Drama Network, the group also won a District award from the National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA), the “It’s Behind You Award” for Best Pantomime.

This will now be going forward as a nomination for the NODA Regional awards.
