Feeling the urge to put some prep in your step? Sperry has just the thing. The brand just launched its Top-Sider Classics Collection that debuts two sneakers — the US12 Sneakers and Racquet Oxford tennis shoes — inspired by archival silhouettes from its 89-year span as a footwear company.

Made with the same signature non-slip outsoles that defined the brand since its inception, the two pillar styles of the collection, the Racquet Oxfords and the US12 Sneakers, effortlessly channel the retro silhouettes we’ve seen trending all over as of late (think the resurgence of Adidas’ Sambas or Onitsuka Tiger sneakers).

The Racquet Oxford tennis shoes arrive right on time for the ‘tenniscore’ trend, a subset of ‘quiet luxury’ that embodies a polished-yet-leisurely approach to fashion. These comfortable sneakers for men and women balance a full-grain leather and suede upper with a traditional lace-to-toe design. And in crisp black and white colorways, we see them paired for a spring Friday with linen trousers and a polo (popping the collar is optional!). As we eagerly await the US Open, and before that, the forthcoming movie ‘Challengers’ starring Zendaya, tenniscore is taking off.

The Sperry Racquet Oxford sneakers feature a leather and suede upper.

Meanwhile, the US12 Sneakers fit seamlessly into the aforementioned retro-style sneaker resurgence, but with an Americana twist. Originally launched in 1987, the US12 sneakers were worn by the U.S. Olympic sailing team with the same non-slip outsole developed by Paul Sperry in the 1930s for Sperry’s beloved boat shoes. Complete with the original logo and design accent, these white sneakers for men and women deliver stability that keep you level on and off the dock.

The US12 Sneakers are complete with retro design features, including the brand’s original logo from the ’80s.

Sperry’s Top-Sider Classics Collection couldn’t have arrived at a better time, with fashion trends embracing all things preppy. Miu Miu’s spring 2024 runway show brought forth a slew of sporty-inspired ensembles, with bright, pretty popped collars layered under cable knits and button-downs, bringing to mind a spin on wardrobes seen in ‘The Talented Mr. Ripley.’ We plan on turning to Sperry, with their fun colors and prints, to embody that feeling this spring.

Whether you’re looking for a way to feel old money or want to stay ahead of the curve on new trends, Sperry’s Top-Sider Classics has you covered. We expect these shoes will be everywhere this spring, so be sure to grab a pair while your size is still in stock.
