The Thursday Murder Club film reveals Helen Mirren and Ben Kingsley among cast

Helen Mirren, Ben Kingsley and Pierce Brosnan have been cast in three of the four leading roles from the book by Richard Osman.

The Thursday Murder Club was published back in 2020 and follows four friends in a retirement village who attempt to solve the murder of a property developer.

Osman has enjoyed great success with the books critically and commercially and has published four in the series so far with a fifth one on its way.

As reported by The Guardian the initial book was the subject of a 10-way bidding war before being sold to Penguin for a seven-figure sum in 2019, with it selling 45,000 copies in its first three days of release.

The casting of some of the key characters was confirmed by the author and quiz show host on his podcast, The Rest Is Entertainment.

Which roles have been cast in The Thursday Murder Club film?

According to Deadline, Mirren will play ex-spy Elizabeth, Kingsley will play ex-psychiatrist Ibrahim and Brosnan will play former union activist Ron.
