This Morning phone-ins ‘heavily vetted’ following Phil Schofield scandal

This Morning phone-ins are reportedly set to be carefully examined following Phillip Schofield’s bombshell interviews.

Phil, 61, quit ITV with ‘immediate effect’ after admitting to an ‘unwise but not illegal’ affair with a young runner on the daytime programme.

He has since spoken about the romance in a range of interviews, revealing he’s too scared to leave his home over fears of being spat on and ‘wouldn’t be here’ if it wasn’t for the support of his two daughters, Ruby and Molly.

Phil’s former co-host Holly has been off our screens for the past two weeks, taking an early half-term break amid rumours of a ‘fallout’ between them.

But, she’ll be back on June 5, with sources claiming the broadcaster interactive segments being put on pause.

The Sun claims ‘phone-ins involving the public will be heavily vetted by production staff to filter out any attempted viewer outbursts over the scandal.’

Phil apologised to the Wylde Moon founder during a recent interview with The Sun and said he had ‘lost his best friend’.

The former Dancing On Ice host, who said Holly did not know about the affair, said he messaged her before admitting the affair publicly.

He said: ‘She didn’t reply and I understand why she didn’t reply, as well. So yeah. If anyone is in any way linking Holly to this; that is absolutely, wholly untrue.’

Phillip – who presented This Morning with Holly for over 13 years – has always maintained that she did not know about his affair.

In her first and only statement after his confession, she wrote on Instagram: ’It’s taken time to process yesterday’s news. When reports of this relationship first surfaced, I asked Phil directly if this was true and was told it was not.

‘It’s been very hurtful to now find out that this was a lie. Holly.’

Holly will be joined by Josie Gibson for the first two shows of next week’s This Morning, while Craig Doyle will be her co-host later in the week, as Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary return for Friday’s episode as normal.

It has not yet been confirmed who Phillip’s permanent replacement will be.
