U’s boss praises keeper for ‘best performance of the season’

Elliott Moore scored the only goal of the game against Peterborough United, with a second half header, while Chelsea loanee Cumming has now kept five clean sheets in the last nine games.

The 24-year-old recently admitted his loan spell at United has been ‘up and down’, but against the Posh, he made solid saves to deny Ephron Mason-Clark, Hector Kyprianou, Ricky-Jade Jones and Harrison Burrows.

U’s head coach Buckingham said: “That was Jamie Cumming’s best game for us since he’s been here. When we took him on, he hadn’t played in nearly nine months.

“He’s slowly found his feet, and we knew that would be the case. It’s pleasing to see another clean sheet for him and the team, not just the backline and the goalkeeper.

“That was definitely his best performance of the season for us so far, and hopefully it gives him a bit more confidence going into Wednesday.”
